Knitted with Love: Hockley’s Heartfelt Tribute to Remembrance

As November arrives and Remembrance season begins, the heart of Hockley Village has once again come alive with a stunning tribute of red. Over the weekend, visitors to the Village shopping area were greeted by an extraordinary sight, thousands of hand-knitted poppies cascading across railings, fences, and shopfronts.

Over the weekend, Hockley Village has once again been transformed into a breathtaking display of remembrance and community spirit. Thousands of knitted poppies now adorn the Village shopping area, as part of the much-loved Hockley Remembers project, proudly delivered for the fifth consecutive year by Amos Estates.

Each year, the display grows more spectacular, thanks to the generosity and dedication of local residents who handcraft these beautiful poppies. This year, an incredible 4,500 additional poppies have been lovingly added to the netting, all attached by a wonderful team of volunteers who gave their time and energy to ensure the display continues to shine as a fitting tribute to those who have served and sacrificed.

The result is a truly moving sight, a vibrant sea of red that captures the essence of remembrance and highlights the strong sense of unity that exists within Hockley Village. The project not only honours our heroes but also celebrates the remarkable community spirit that makes Hockley such a special place to live and work.

If you’ve been inspired by this stunning display, please consider supporting the Royal British Legion Poppy Appeal. Every donation helps provide vital assistance to members of the Armed Forces community and their families, ensuring that their service and sacrifice are never forgotten.

From everyone involved in the Hockley Remembers project a very big thank you to all who knitted, volunteered, and supported this heartfelt initiative. Together, we remember.
