Plumberow Year 6 Shine Through the Rain: A Sweet Success
Braving relentless rain, the Year 6 pupils of Plumberow School in Hockley sold cakes with unstoppable energy, raising funds for their leavers’ event on our popular community stall last Saturday morning.
Last Saturday proved that a little (or rather, a lot of) rain is no match for determination when the Year 6 pupils from Lift Plumberow School in Hockley took on the elements to raise funds for their forthcoming leavers’ event. With grey skies and persistent drizzle threatening to dampen spirits, the young fundraisers set up their cake sale on the Amos Estates Community Stall with admirable enthusiasm.
Tables were filled with a tempting array of homemade treats from colourful cupcakes to classic traybakes all prepared with care and a clear goal in mind. Despite the rubbish weather doing its best to keep people away, the tenacity of the Year 6 pupils truly shone through. Smiles stayed firmly in place, sales pitches grew more confident by the minute, and the team spirit on display was impossible to ignore.

Passers-by couldn’t help but be impressed by the children’s commitment, and many stopped to show their support (and pick up something delicious along the way). Their hard work paid off. By the end of the sale, plenty of cakes had found happy new homes, and the group had raised a fantastic contribution toward their leavers’ celebrations.
More importantly, the event showcased resilience, teamwork, and community spirit, all qualities that will serve these pupils well as they prepare for their next big step. A huge well done to all the Plumberow Year 6 children involved.
