'There is no friend as loyal as a book'

Whatever the technological advances with the advent of iPads, Kindles and Audio books nothing quite beats a good paperback. Our Hockley office have operated a 'Lockdown Library' outside our Spa Road, Hockley branch since, well the lockdown, hence the name!

We have had lots of great books dropped into the office for our Lockdown Library this week, if you are passing, please take one home to recycle and read, they really make a positive difference to local people and the box is visited hundreds of times every week. As Ernest Hemingway said, “There is no friend as loyal as a book.”

Alternatively, if you have any books gathering dust at home which you have already enjoyed then please feel free to donate them to the box, just drop them into the office, you will be made most welcome.

As November draws near, red poppies begin to bloom across lapels, symbolising remembrance, gratitude, and unity. Each year, the Royal British Legion’s Poppy Appeal brings communities together to honour those who have served and sacrificed in the Armed Forces. It’s a time to pause, reflect, and give back and thanks to the tireless RBL volunteers.
