A Season to Remember: Adding Love to Hockley’s Christmas Tree

As the festive season approaches and Hockley begins to sparkle with Christmas lights, there’s one tradition that quietly stands apart, bringing comfort, reflection and togetherness to our community our Hockley Remembrance Tree.

Every year, as the festive lights begin to glow and Hockley prepares for the season ahead, there’s a special tradition that brings our community together in a meaningful way. The Hockley Remembrance Tree on Spa Road has become a place where residents can pause, reflect, and honour those they miss most at this time of year. It’s a simple idea, but one that carries enormous heart.

At Amos Estates, we’re proud to help bring this tradition to life. For several years now, we’ve invited local residents to share the name of someone they wish to remember, and we create a personalised wooden ornament to hang on our community tree. There’s no charge, no catch, just a gesture of care and connection for anyone who needs it.

The response each year is incredible. Families, friends, neighbours and even those who have moved away still take part, knowing their loved ones are remembered in the heart of Hockley. As the tree fills with ornaments, it becomes more than just a festive display, it becomes a symbol of shared love, shared loss, and the shared strength of our community.

We’re honoured to continue this project and grateful to every resident who trusts us with their memories. If you’d like to add a name to this year’s tree, we would be privileged to create an ornament for you. In a busy season that often rushes past, the Remembrance Tree is a gentle reminder of what truly matters: the people we carry with us, and the community that carries us all.

If you would like to add a name or a short message to this year’s Remembrance Tree, we would be privileged to create a personalised wooden ornament for you. Simply email the name and message you’d like displayed to hockley@amosestates.com and we’ll ensure your remembrance is added with care.

January isn’t just about fresh starts and broken resolutions, it’s also the smartest time to sell your home. If you’re planning a spring or summer move, listing now gives you the head start, the buyers, and the breathing space to move when the weather’s on your side.

Selling a home isn’t always straightforward, especially when buyers keep dropping out. But sometimes all it takes is a fresh approach. Here’s how switching to auction turned a repeatedly failed sale on Canvey Island into a fast, committed and stress-free success.

Thundersley Village has once again been transformed by a breathtaking display of community spirit and creativity. This week, Colin MacLean from Amos Estates unveiled an incredible installation of over 5,000 knitted poppies, now proudly adorning the railings outside the shops on Hart Road.

Selling your home is a bit like throwing a party, you tidy every corner, light the candle you usually just display, and hope people turn up and love the place as much as you do. Ask us about Open Homes, and you might open the door to a crowd of curious buyers.
